Sketches of an individual tree

More coursework - hot off the press! We had to draw four versions of an individual tree: a simple outline, foliage forms, outlines of the trunk and 'scribbled outlines' to indicate texture and foliage. I have been working from sketches and photographs from Cumbria a few weeks ago, done specifically with my coursework in mind. (Drawing ink and bamboo pen on cartridge paper.)

  1. Great work, Sharon. It really looks like you are moving. Your drawing style here is very different from you usual style, more bold, but perhaps it is because you are using a different tool? Did you find a good source for bamboo pens?

  2. Thank you for your kind comments, Gry.

It is only one pen, actually, which I dipped in varying amounts of ink and moved horizontally and vertically to achieve different thicknesses of line.
